Your Step-by-Step Guide to Installing a Conekt Bath or Shower
Preparation
To ensure a perfect installation of your Conekt Waterblock System, check the alcove dimensions of your space against those of the Conekt tub and shower. Your opening should be 60" wide x 33" deep, with no need for a drywall or plywood structure. Make sure your wall structure is level and square before you begin the installation of the tub or shower base.
Pre-Installation Check
Before installing, do a dry fit: Insert your Conekt bathtub or shower base into the alcove, and ensure that it is level and square. Using a pencil, draw a horizontal leader line along the product tiling flange to mark its location against the wall. This line will be your reference for the permanent installation of your unit.
Installing the Bathtub or Shower Base
For Conekt showers, lay the 2 mm (0.080") polyethylene sheet on the floor, then spread the thin-set mortar/cement-sand mix on it.
NOTE: This step is important. Failure to do this will void the product warranty.
For Conekt tub showers, place the tub upside down and apply a thick bead of construction adhesive or thin-set mortar along the tub skids. Position the base or tub (which should now be turned right side up) in place, using your leader line as a reference.
Installing the Base and Dry Fit
With your Conekt bathtub or shower base in place, make sure it is level and square. Use shims for out-of-plumb walls. Use a milling bit to drill the tiling flange into place and then using #8 x 1 1/4" screws, fasten the tub or base securely to the structure.
Next, dry fit your components. Begin by sliding the faucet wall in place. Drill holes for the faucet. Slide in the back wall and lastly, the final side wall. Drill pilot holes in flanges where the studs are located. Remove all walls and then remove all protective films.
Silicone and Faucet Wall Install
Apply a 1/2" bead of silicone all along the edge of the Click & Lock™ system. Silicone must be applied to the internal top edge of the Click & Lock™ system and NOT inside the groove. Now, install your walls in the same order as your dry fit, faucet wall first. Slide your faucet wall into place and use the Click & Lock™ system to perfectly align the parts.
Installing the Back Wall
Install the grab bar on the back wall, in the pre-drilled holes, using the bolts and screws provided. Apply a 1/2" bead of silicone on both sides of the back wall at 1" from the back flange. Use the grab bar to raise the back wall and slot it into place and use the Click & Lock™ system to align. Push it against the faucet wall.
Installing the Side Wall
Install the side wall into place. Level and square the walls using shims to make them tight against one another. Install drywall or any other finishing material on top of the flange.
NOTE: Ensure the side walls, faucet wall and the interior lips of the tub are aligned (for installing a shower door later), and that the wall is perfectly aligned with the front of the tub. Smooth out any excess silicone on the seams and completely fill the joints if needed. Your shower door (purchased separately) can now be installed.
Installing the Doors
Your final step is door installation. Carefully read the complete installation instructions for your door (purchased separately from your sectional tub/shower). Begin by determining the location of the wall jamb for your shower door. Ie. for glass door on the left, the wall jamb must be installed on the right wall and vise-versa for a right-hand door. Ensure the shower base is levelled, and that the wall jamb is also vertically levelled.
Tracks and end blocks will be installed next, then the actual track, rollers, door, drip rail, door handle and door gaskets. See product manual for detailed steps. Wait 24 hours after completing your installation (until silicone is dry) before using your shower.
