Here’s How to Make It:
Our family decorated the home for the Holidays and it’s looking pretty festive. Everyone loves the twinkly lights and warm, cozy fireplace, especially while cuddled up on the couch with our hot chocolate. The only thing missing was a DIY touch. So we visited our local Home Hardware for tips and materials to create a beaded wooden tree garland.
Step 1: Cutting the Trees
We cut our trees 4” high and 3” wide at the base. You can make your trees any size you like but this worked well for our space.
Step 2: Drilling the Tree Holes
To attach the trees to the twine we drilled small holes at the very top of each tree.
Step 3: Attaching the Stumps
For the tree stumps, we glued small craft beads to the bottom of each tree.
Step 4: Painting the Beads & Trees
Painting small beads can be messy, so we placed them on skewers to ensure a smooth, even paint job. We used the skewer sticks again to add snowflake paint dabs to one side of the trees. We painted the other side green so we can turn them around to change up the look.
Step 5: Stringing the Beads
Once everything was dry, we strung the beads and trees onto the twine. We decided to slip in a few plain beads too. The combination of the natural wood with the colours of the trees was fantastic!
This garland looks so good when it’s hung up, and it only took us an afternoon to complete. I’ve been playing around with different locations, but for now, I have them hanging off the sideboard in the living room where everyone can see them. Once again, the staff at our local Home Hardware were ready with some helpful tips to make the project come together.
