Every home gets the occasional bad odour, but it doesn’t have to linger. The key is to address different kinds of odours with the correct type of air freshener. Aerosol air fresheners offer a quick fix for larger areas. Most have a high level of perfume to mask the smell, and some also contain baking soda to help neutralize the odour. Pump spray air fresheners work well on couches and carpets because they penetrate the fabric to block odours from dispersing. Gel air fresheners are ideal for smaller spaces, like a bathroom, as they emit a continuous cover smell to mask any potential odours. Refillable plug-in air fresheners work the same way, but they plug into your wall receptacle. One benefit here is you can switch up the refills to get a different scented air freshener.
Scented candles and aromatherapy diffusers offer ambience along with odour-masking and make for effective room fresheners. Non-toxic natural deodourizers are also available that are readily biodegradable. For your vehicles, you can find car air fresheners that hang from the mirror or plug into your AC vents.
