Complete Your Essential Tool Requirements with a Good Portable Drill

A good power drill is an essential tool for any homeowner or contractor. It can bore holes and tighten or loosen screws quickly on a wide variety of surfaces and materials. Your first decision is whether to go corded or cordless (or both). A cordless drill gives you greater mobility as you can use it almost anywhere, but you should bring along an extra battery pack. Corded electric drills are generally lighter because there’s no battery and can often deliver more power. If you’re going to be driving in a lot of screws, you’ll want a variable speed drill to control the torque, along with a reversing function to remove screws as well. Drill drivers can drill holes into wood and metal and also act as drivers to loosen or tighten screws using different drill bits and screwdriver bits. This makes them ideal for hanging and assembling furniture.

Hammer drills are great for heavy duty jobs like drilling through concrete and masonry. A right-angle drill is a hand drill that features a straight, slim design which allows you to work in tight spaces such as between floor joists. A spade handle drill gives you a firm, double grip for drilling through thick wood and metal. Look for cost-effective drill and impact driver kits, and drill sets that come complete with the tool, charger and extra batteries.
