Here’s How to Get Your Home Ready for Winter

Winterizing your home should be done in the fall before the weather turns cold. Check for drafts around your exterior doors, and install thresholds and door sweeps where necessary. Make sure your windows are sealed tight with weather stripping and a protective film window kit. Clear your gutters of any debris and make sure your attic insulation is sufficient for another winter. Any exposed pipes should also have proper pipe insulation. You also want to prepare your home for winter storms with a portable generator in case the power goes out.

A good snow blower will help you dig out after heavy snowfalls, but it’s important to choose the right snow blower for your property. You should also have at least two snow shovels: one for pushing the snow, and one for throwing it. A sturdy snow fence can help prevent deep drifts from building up on your driveway. Keep plenty of road salt or ice melt on hand to keep pedestrians safe on your pathways. Wrapping your trees and shrubs in burlap will help keep them safe too.

Inspiration is always handy
