Issue;

The recalled product’s packaging has the potential to be affected by a manufacturing defect. This defect renders the child-resistant packaging damaged or inoperable. The lack of child-resistant packaging could result in unintentional exposure to these products and lead to serious illness or injury. As of April 2, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Frito Lay is issuing a voluntary recall for their Sun Chips Harvest Cheddar and Munchies Snack Mix Original. The seasoning in these items, supplied by a third-party company, may have potentially been contaminated with salmonella. While no salmonella was found in the seasoning supplied to Frito Lay Canada, the company has decided to recall these products out of an abundance of caution. Home only stocks two products of Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips, HH# 9230-343 40g bag, and HH# 9000-854 60g bag. Additionally, this voluntary recall only impacts products manufactured with expiry dates between July 16 and August 13, 2024.

Issue

The products contain resins that, when uncured, can potentially cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested by children or adults. After the resins cure, they no longer present this potential hazard.

As of June 21, 2024, MGA is aware of 1 report of skin allergy in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 26 reports including 7 reports of skin irritation and one report of asthma.

These products pose an aspiration hazard if ingested. Aspiration into the lungs can occur when the product enters the lungs directly or is coughed up or vomited after being ingested. This coughing/vomiting could cause small particles of the product to travel into the lungs, or the product may be inhaled directly in the form of a fine mist. The lack of appropriate hazard labelling information could result in unintentional exposure to the product and lead to serious illness, injury or death.

Certain LiftMaster garage door control panels recalled due to potential entrapment hazard- 2610-458

The impacted control panels can allow the operator to unintentionally override the secondary entrapment protection system when the control panel is paired with both an external-facing keypad and a wall-mount operator, and the consumer initiates a door closing cycle using the keypad when there is an obstruction. The override can only occur when the consumer presses and releases “ENTER” a second time within 60 seconds of the initial push.

The recalled products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an environmental organism found widely in soil and water. The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, through the eyes, or through a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria.
