Your fridge is one of the most important appliances in your kitchen. As a visual focal point, you want it to look great, but its size and functionality should also suit the needs of your family.
Top freezer refrigerators are a long-time favourite, with the cooling section at the bottom and lots of open freezer space at eye level. A bottom freezer refrigerator reverses this, which is more energy-efficient because it’s easier to keep the freezer cold at the bottom of the unit. It also gives you easier access to the more often used refrigerator section. Side-by-side refrigerators have become increasingly popular for their visual appeal. The left/right design also makes for a shorter door swing profile—a real benefit in smaller kitchens. A propane refrigerator is ideal for RVs, off-grid cabins, or even as a home fridge backup in the event of a power outage.
If you still need more freezer space you might want to consider a stand-alone unit. A chest freezer is energy-efficient and gives you plenty of storage space, but you may have to dig down to find the item you’re after. An upright freezer features open shelves so you can find things more easily, especially if there are glass doors on the front. Propane freezer models are also available.
A wine cooler and ice maker are ideal for the bar or dining area, and a mini-fridge can be a welcome addition to the workshop, garage or backyard deck.
